going beyond chatgpt for ai image generation
I’ve had a lot of fun generating AI images in ChatGPT. It’s very capable of producing many fun styles (studio ghibli, anyone?). But it also has weaknesses, such as maintaining human likeness. Plus, the more exposure you have to ChatGPT images, the more recognizable and tired the overall look becomes. Once you notice the yellow tint, you’ll never unsee it…
The great news is that there is a whole world of AI models out there for image generation! Some of my favorites: the flux family of models by black forest labs and recraft’s v3 model. There are even models for specific use cases, like background removal, svg conversion, upscaling, and combining multiple images.
The best way I’ve found to explore all these models is to use replicate.com (not a sponsor 😄) which hosts all the models I’ve mentioned and many more in one place. Replicate also has a playground for testing models, directly on their site.
Replicate provides a developer API for integrating these models into your web applications. I am utilizing Replicate for the AI integration in wepaint.ai (an easy-to-use web AI paint & image editor, see my youtube video showcasing it)
